Mark Shanley
Executive Creative Director, Adam&Eve\TBWA
Mark Shanley is Executive Creative Director at adam&eve\TBWA. Drake once complained about not being in one of Mark’s ads. Stevie Knicks defended another one of them against its critics. His ads have been the answer to a question on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and become posters on children’s bedroom walls. When The Sun called another one of his ads the most stomach-turning ad in television history Mark was just glad to have been considered part of television history.
In a 20 year career Mark Shanley’s work has been awarded, celebrated, satirised, parodied, referenced, copied, memed and banned. But it has never, he hopes, been boring.
He started his career in his native Dublin at DDFH&B/JWT before moving to London to work at Wieden+Kennedy where he spent seven years, much of that time as creative director on their Nike business. While there he was creative director on the cultural phenomenon Nothing Beats a Londoner.
Mark Joined adam&eveDDB in 2020 as a creative director where he has been behind award winning campaigns for the V&A Museum, Pot Noodle, Puma and Amazon. Now as Executive Creative Director at adam&eve\TBWA he likes to make provocative work that makes people feel something. He puts this into practice for a diverse range of brands everyday at the agency.
Mark brings a unique vantage point to this event: a storyteller at heart who’s always probing how emerging technologies can expand—not replace—the human spark at the heart of creativity. He used AI to write that sentence.
